NESPAaper
Ongoing Online News for Members
and Friends of
NESPA
Hi Friends,
NESPAaper Online is our quickest means of getting
news to members. Please share your work with the rest of our members. If
you have found a great publishing link, have a tip on how you do
something, have a question you would like for members to email you
about, have a student article for syndication--here's the place to do
all of that and more.
Please send your info to: mlevin@cdschool.org and I'll get it online. I need your help to get this site updated and
"inspiring."
Members can also subscribe to our online newsletter, NESPAper ExPRESS, which is emailed every-so-often. Just email to be added.
We're continuing
a new service for NESPA members (well, we started it last year) who wish to be notified of the
latest news, tips, and ideas from the world of scholastic journalism.
Send me your name, school and/or newspaper name, and email address via
email and you'll be added to the list. This special email newsletter
will be sent as time permits and when there's something special to
share. Email me at: mlevin@cdschool.org.
So, what are you waiting for?
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Mark
NESPA Director

Karen Lunny has published an incredible "how-to" guide for beginning an elementary school journalism club. Karen has taken the time to publish an entire booklet giving you hints and suggestions for week by week. Karen teaches in North Andover, MA.
Check it out. Check it out.
Would you like copies of some elementary
and middle school newspapers? Just email Mark at mailto:mlevin@cdschool.org and let me know. If you're a member, all you need to do is email your
name and address. There is no charge. If you are not a member of NESPA,
you'll need to mail your request the old fashion way in an envelope,
along with your name and address. Please enclosed a check for $3 made
payable to Carolina Day School for postage.
And while we're at it, please send your newspapers to the NESPA office
at: 1345 Hendersonville Road, Asheville, NC 28803. I love to see
what everyone is doing. It's fun reading about schools across the
country. We have so much in common, and then again--we're all
different.
We've added a new page to the NESPA
website--News Story Ideas. Check it out. And please send your favorite story ideas to add to this list.
And
while I'm on the subject, please send in links to your newspaper if you
publish an online edition. We're starting a new spot on the NESPA site
with all of these links.

It's always the right time to have your
newspaper reviewed. NEPSA offers a handy way to have a professional
look over your newspaper and offer comments on its good points--and
give suggestions for improvements to make it even better. For
complete information, check this web site for the details. The
process generally takes about three weeks.
Want the most up-to-date member
roster available? You can get it for free. As a new service for
members only, email me and I'll get a copy sent to you via email as
a PDF file. Of course, it's up to you to keep it updated. Please
send change of addresses, change of school contacts, etc. to the
NESPA office.
Do you want to publish your newspaper online? The
American Society of Newspaper Editors is sponsoring a wonderful way
of doing just that. They'll supply the web space and the software
and you and your students supply the talent. All they ask is that
you update your site regularly with school news. This site is
especially designed for elementary and middle schools. The cost is
just $50 with no monthly fees due. For more info, go to:
